Post subject: | All aluminum radiator |
I'm not wanting to spark a divisive argument between the factions, but I am interested, if anyone has thoughts on using an all AL vs brass / copper radiator. I have the chance to pick up an all AL radiator for the same price as a cheap brass / copper unit, and my radiator's now 30 years old, so... time for the solder to give way... I'm leaning toward the aluminum, as I live in dry country and aluminum lives forever here. No road salt, etc. Any thoughts or preferences? |

Ditto ED.Yup, how’s that 50/50 solder working on those plastic tanks & aluminum fins for yeah? Stick with copper, keep it simple. Bill |

If your aluminum radiator should ever corrode enough to leak, replace it in 2045 or something... Just remember to fill it up with the proper mix of water and anti-freeze, no matter how your climate is. I know that Renault (and surely other manufacturers too) formulated a special anti-freeze for aluminum radiators, you could ask around to get that confirmed. Same price copper/aluminum: And the winner is aluminum! Olaf. |
