Doc, Just read your slant block article, and happily I seam to have one of the better castings; a 1968 #2806830-9 RGFC block with pencil shaped ribs fore & aft of freeze plugs nestled on the Dart’s K frame. You indicated these blocks were painted blue, not red. I have found traces of blue paint under the current coat of black paint. I had recently read that red was used to 1969, and starting with 1970, color changed to blue. This is timely as I am starting an engine compartment clean-up on the 67, and plan on covering the black with…red or perhaps now blue. I’ll have to ask the fashion police for a color comparability ruling whither to use red or blue on the block in that yellow engine compartment. According to her, I’m incapable of color matching, go figure… I’m leaning on historical correctness; more study on this may be in order. Bill |
