What are your plans for the car? A street car, race car, street /strip car. It will help people to respond. 14's in a heavier car like yours for a street car takes some work.

x2

To put that car with the slant in the 14's without stripping it to nothing and dropping five grand in mods is, unlikely. You could for-go the mods and put it on the hose, but your still going to have to strip it down.

'76 through '79 Aspen and Volare panels should interchange with no problem. '80 Aspens and Volares have different hoods and front fenders.

About that 440 swap, Mopar Action had an article detailing this swap several years ago. I'm not sure if there is a link to it though.

However, I would recommend keeping the the slant six in your Aspen. It's your car though.

Sure it's a slant six forum. There are a few streetable cars that run under 15's. I personally haven't seen an F-body doing it, but sure, you can do it.

What's your budget? Street Strip, or strip only?

My Hooptie runs right on the edge of 14's. Four door Valiant. One passenger, but it is a fairly heavy place to start. 15.02 best. It still carries it's plates, and all the required things work to make it legal.
Getting further than that with a street car will require power adders if your going to keep the seats and so forth.
If your ready to take some weight out of it, and want to build up a killer slant, take a look through the Articles Section of the site. There is an engine build Matrix in the Frequently Asked questions area of the Engine topic. Peruse those too.

Putting a 440 in the Aspen will be a chore, and it'll handle terrible. There aren't a lot of options for Torsion bars.

Why the specific cars you want to be faster than? Somebody specific your gunning for?

Doing this sort of thing with a specifc car and engine can be a challenge. Both for the budget, and because there aren't any bolt on options like there are with V8 builds.

I've learned a lot about fabrication to get where I'm at. We'll see how the winter's modifications play out with my build. I might just put a 14 something down yet. :D

Mikey in Iowa has an F-body that I believe has run in the high 14's and is a street car. It is not on the ragged edge either.

I went 14-teens in the Valiant at almost 3300#. 150 shot put it at 12.0's.

Is getting your F-body in the 14's going to be simple or cheap? No, but it is not impossible.

There are enough engine builds posted on here that you will find what you need to know with the help of the 'Search' function.

How many wires and what color are on your tech? Normally there are 4 wires. Red-keyed power, black-ground, green-coil negative, and white-dash lights.

I'd say get a buick 231 turbo, a holley 600cfm DP and 4 bbl intake. Used wastegate and BOV. Boost ref regulator and hit the 14's on the first time out. All could be had used on Ebay (or other spots) and done in the $1,000 range or maybe less. No reason to change gears or shoehorn a 440 in the thing. 8) 8)

Goodluck in whatever you are going to do.
