Post subject:  torsion bar removal for an AP6

Hi new here so i hope this question is in the right spot.... currently rebuilding the whole front end and cant seem to get this torsion bar to come out.. hoping theres a secret knack.... the circlip on the end has been removed and everything bar the control arm and radius rods are still in... i assumed those rods could be removed after the control arm is out ... the bolt that adjusts the height have been removed also... seems like there is no tension on the torsion bar but after bashing away with mallets and hammers it still doesnt seem to have moved at all.... thanks for any help in advance

BFH
The pivot stud that mounts the control arm to the "K" frame, needs a good wack with the hammer. Remove the nut, and give it a wack. Also make sure you have the strut rod un bolted from the "K" frame.

I have found when removing or installing a torsion bar, if one backs off the nut securing the lower control arm it will make the job a lot easer. Sometimes these two parts don’t line up causing a bind, and by proving a little slop, all pressure is removed, allowing control arm and bar to move independent of each other freely.

When i took my torsion bars out i didn't have the special tool as described in the manual.
So i bolted on some old motorcycle handlebar clamps around the torsion bar and smacked the clamps with a hammer.
Came out fairly easy, but i had sprayed a lot of INOX (WD-40) in there as well.
