I've finally decided to get an 8.75 for my 63 Dart. I'm tired of babying the rear end (I have a 7.25 now).

I was searching the web and came across "Mopar Madness, John Wolfe, 245 E Collins Av, EATON CO., 80615."

Just talked to him on the phone - seems like nice guy and seems to understand Mopar stuff really well. . .

I can get an 8.75, with drums, Sure-Grip, custom axles for my 5 on 4's, right width, gears, and everything, shipped, for about $2500.

Is that a fair price? Has anyone bought from them before? Just want to make sure everything is kosher before I pull the trigger on the purchase.

Thanks!

Kevin

If you want to keep the small bolt pattern I feel you're much better off finding a complete, stock A-body 8 3/4 (about $500, maybe less) and putting in a 3rd member with the gear ratio and Sure-Grip you want ($950 from Dr Diff). A used 3rd member can drop the price several hundred more.

Sounds good! I'm realizing that I probably don't need to spend $3000 right now!!!!

Especially after logging into my bank account website and looking at my balance!

Cass (Dr. Diff) can put together a Dana for less than $2500. I've dealt with him a few times, he's good people. :D

Yep, call Cass - Dr. Diff. Straight shooter and builds nice stuff. Prices are very fair. I'm about to have him build another (2 so far) center section for me.

Cool. Cass deserves more business!

What gears are you going for?

Also, you might ask about "dual drilled" axles/drums/discs for both 5X4" and 5X4.5" studs, so that WHEN you switch to big bolt pattern it will be easy.

If it were me, I would start your BBP conversion now. I resisted for many years, and when I finally switched (front discs) I couldn't figure out why I hadn't done so 10 yrs earlier...

With the money you save going with Cass, you could buy a whole front end kit for BBP discs, and maybe some wheels too.

Just some thoughts...

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions. I just wanted to update this thread and also give another thanks to Doc Dodge!!!

He actually drove out here to Sonora, CA and put in another 7.25 until I can get the funds together for an 8.75. My friend Ethan also came out from the Bay Area to help.

I'm convinced that the old "it takes a village" idea is a POOR idea for raising kids, but an EXCELLENT idea for keeping old Slant Six cars running!!!!

Without everyone's help, I would not have been able to use my Dart as a daily driver for over 10 years now, since I'm a pretty crappy mechanic, if left to my own devices!!!
