Post subject: | Hot Rod Aluminum Block |
So I have what seems to be a good core Aluminum block with head I pulled awhile back from a pick and pull. I see no significant corrosion at the deck or in water jackets. It also had a a good gasket seal. Slight ridge at the top of the cylinders. I understand that I'd be limited as far a build up so my plan would be to do an overhaul or minor warm over. i'd then polish it up, add muticarbs, headers etc and do a Mopar roadster to show off the motor. no need for lots of power in a light weight rod. Question: What would be a good formula for this? and the $64,000 question: Where do I find a head gasket or am I screwed? Thanks, Al |

Thanks for leads on some great info! So if I understand correctly, if I do a block fill operation to close the deck I can run a standard iron block gasket ? |

No... the edge along the lifter gallery is different and the iron block's head gasket does not cover that edge... DD |
