How do you position the O ring under the brake caliper anti-rattle spring on a 1986 Dodge D150 pickup? The Service Manual is not clear on the position of the O ring (looks like a black rubber band) under the anti-rattle spring. Does it just go around the bolt and lay against the inner rectangular part of the retainer clip?

The band is supposed to go around the caliper mount before the caliper is installed so the band lays in the square corner, but I feel they are of so little value I don't bother. Mine go into the garbage.
