History:

Truck died on the road limped it home, starving for fuel.

Rebuilt Carb put on truck....NO START!

Tried again, original foam float seemed to be sticking but after readjusting tang seemed good to go. Also found a couple pieces of crap that I missed under power valve etc.........

Reinstalled, purred like a kitten, idled smooth, Adjusted idle and mixture.

Boy drives to school 3 miles, no problem. Drives to store 1 additional mile and it dies in the parking lot.

Acted like it was starving for fuel or a major vacuum leak. Had to adjust mixture out 7.5 full turns from seated to richen it up enough to drive it home to garage.

Set mixture back to 3 turns from seated, ran like crap and would not idle.

Suspecting a sticking float (needle and seat new) Do they stick up keeping needle closed or partially closed????

Whacked carb with the plastic end of a screwdriver and it's running great again at the original carb settings.

So...... Just a brass float or a different needle and seat too?

DYNAMITE IS NEXT!!!!!

Sounds like some junk buildup in the idle circuit.

Idle circuit was thoroughly cleaned with mixture screw removed. New fuel filter and fuel line mod done prior to problems. Don't see anyway how I can still have crap in the carb itself.

Never say never. Foreign matter in the fuel system is all too common.

Slap a clear gas filter on the line for now and order a charcoal filter packet for your fuel vapor canister from Year One.
