or something :) , either it's cast iron or an aluminum block.

Where did you find the numbers ? 24... would suggest a block after 62 (the aluminum block was made from 1960 to 1962) and they made around 45000 of them, but I might be 100% wrong here.

On the engine block, just under where the manifolds are, I'd post a photo but because of the headders you can't see it.
There is - in there somewhere, but I can't see it now it's too late I'll add it later.

Ok, in 1960-1962 it should be on the left side of the block, 63 on they put it on the right side front just below the head, so I guess it could be an aluminum block then.

248343015 is really 2463430-15? (look at it closer)
This should be a 60-67 "three freeze plug" cast iron SL6 block... made form casting pattern "#15", which is somewhat later in the production run of these blocks.
The stamping on the corner of the deck will tell us the year it was made.

Yes doc you are correct it is a 6 and not an 8.

The other number is CC 225 10 12, what year does that mean it was made in...? and I'm guessing it means I have a cast Iron block with a aluminium head?

Where did you get the motor from ?
I didn't think we had aluminium heads on our Australian slant 6's.
