we owned a 1977 Volarie super six and that car kick down convinced a bro it was a V8...I have never been in a 4 barrel conversion slant 6 but wonder if it has more ass? I would think it .. but does it off the line, not just top end? anywho?

I’m guessing that your engine is a stock Super Six. If so, without combustion chamber, valve, and exhaust modifications, a 4V carburetor won’t increase performance, and could even decrease your engine’s performance. Read Josh’s article on carburetion here.

Your present configuration is best bang for the buck by far. Additional alterations set the old spend-o-meter spinning wildly when grasping for appreciable power gains most likely requiring camshaft, torque converter, and rear end ratio changes after head work. Mission creep is inevitable once headed down this road. LOL But, what a fun road it is!!!

If you have a Super 6 already a 4 barrel is the LAST thing I would spend money on.

If you want to go faster ....tune it....advance curve it......then raise compression.....then a cam.......

My Valaint has 9.5 CR and an Erson 280/270 cam and a Super 6/BBD....it will run right around a car with a stock motor and 4 barrel.

A good 2 barrel will get you into the 15s and 180 hp

Another vote for modifying internals, ignition and exhaust before upgrading the induction beyond a Super Six.
