Car Model:
Just another question about my new toy. So, this Chrysler ECU system is rather new to me, and a bit more basic than ECU's I have experience with. As some of you know I recently acquired Murphy, a 1980, 225, 1 bbl. I have been upgrading all that I can in the past weeks and my current curiosity brings me to said ECU.

Do ECU's degrade over time or is it a yes/no object? If the ECU is stock, is there any benefit to replacing it if the car runs normally? I get the sense it's normal for the ECUs to puke some now hard gluey substance... I have that, is it bad?

Also, is there a benefit to replacing a working coil if it is perhaps original?
