Post subject:  Engine stumbles and runs rough

I have a Dodge D150 pickup with the 225 cu in six cylinder engine. I have installed a new carburetor, distributor cap, plugs, plug wires and coil. The engine starts perfectly and idles perfectly. When I drive it and it is warm the engine begins to stumble and run rough at 1500 - 2000 rpm. It accelerates smoothly and has good power when accelerating. But when it is cruising at 1500 to 2000 rpm it runs very rough. When you stop, the engine shakes and almost goes dead. After a few minutes of sitting still it returns to a smooth idle. Any ideas what to do next?

Holley 1945, rebuilt, purchased from Rockauto.com. New fuel pump, new fuel filter, new fuel lines.

I'm not fluent in Holley 1945, but possibly main jet has some crud it it. Idle circuit works ok, and enrichment circuit must be ok as both idle & acceleration is smooth.

Others better versed in this model carburetor will chime in.

This may be a long shot but I just went through a hair-pulling problem with my 1984 D150 carb (Holley 1945).

The vapor canister was bad and the bowl vent line was sucking charcoal chunks into my carb and clogging it up. They are about the size of coarse ground salt, if you find these in your carb that is the problem. Worth a shot......
