There are no big differences between the slant-6 through the years, all heads interchange and the manifolds will fit any engine (there are some differences when it comes to vaccum connections), as long as the carb fits the manifold you should be ok.

Changes are related to external parts like distributor and so on.

My grandson and his Dad did the mechanical swap with a 72 slant with a Super Six (that I gave him) to his 87 D100 short bed. Being a Chevy guy, his Dad could not get the thing to run right so my grandson ended up selling me the truck. Problem was they tried to get it to run with the stock ECU on the run side of a regular electronic distributor. When it gets a little warmer, I'll do the HEI conversion on it - should run way better than it does now.

That's not correct. There are several big differences. Some of these affect interchangeability. The subject swap (73 --> 87) doesn't run into any hard walls, but there will be sensor and pipe ports missing from the '73 engine so keeping the '87 emission control system intact will not be possible. This may or may not be an issue for the original poster.

i have to admit that i em piggy backin on someone elseis post,,,but i figured this would be the best place to start,,,

my engine is an 87 slant,, and i want to super six it, and also want to use original super six parts,

so from what i understand.... the super six manifold(ex and in) will bolt on to my 87 block?no problem?

Almost.

Small production test run of hydraulic-lifter slant-6s in '78, all production switched to hydraulic for the 1981 model year (not '80).

Forged cranks through middle of '76 production, then cast.

Yes, but since you are working in a van, you have some special considerations if you want to install a Super Six. See HERE and HERE
