Trying to get my car into my metal fab shop to make a full 2 1/4" exhaust with a thrush glasspack, my question is my towns police are not the most friendly people around, would it be too loud to run it open header accross town 1 mile or so. Oh yeah, I would have to drive right by the police station... Thanks, Seth |

We all face this sooner or later. Do ....and do it loud. It is better to ask forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. Loud pipes save lives....... |

Ok, its going to be fun times, got pulled over by them because my Honda Accord's license plate was "dirty" I had just washed and detailed the car earlier that day. They just look for a reason to pull you over. So I will give them one |

If there's a question in your mind about it, that's the clue that it is too loud. If a temporary rig is not possible, try to be mild on the throttle and if pulled over, have the contact information for the shop with you to show your intent to have an exhaust system installed. |

Cities and towns all over are having financial shortfalls. This is another excuse to reach into your pockets just that much deeper. If you do get stopped, you can bet that they WILL fine you to the max, and it won't make a bit of difference if you are headed for an exhaust shop. Case in point.....my buddy got stopped for a burnt-out tail light, on his company truck.....the fix-it ticket?......$100....for an .80 cent bulb! Roger |

Sheriff of Nottingham is alive and well, long live the Sheriff… Will the cops try to fine you for a loud paint color as well? This is a prime example of too many cops, and not enough crime to keep them busy. Your town needs to thin the herd. |

Do you have any exhaust you can stuff on there? If not, I do. Come by and get it, just bring it back when you are done! If you have a "rush hour" out there, that's the best time to do the run. Cops will be looking for moving violations more than loud exhaust. ~RDE~ |

Thanks for the input, I got an exhaust kind of bolted up to the car, it only goes to the rear of the seat and leaks a little at the manifold but isnt too much louder than my friends cougar with a 289, cammed and flowmaster exhaust (3"). Got the idle problem figured out and its good to go to the shop, going to drive it down next week and finish up things before i put it in the road as my daily driver (bearings, exhaust, brakes) |

Make a decision upon hearing it for yourself, made a short video. Sorry for the mess inside the car, I've been working on electrical, glass, motor, and fuses http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5y4jT5MkQM |

I can do that tomorrow, I did this quickly before it got dark... I also had the door open in this video so it wasn't completely sealing off the noise outside. |

Well if you have the extra cash available then go ahead and taunt your local Law Enforcement.. My guess if you have the extra cash...why not put it into the car...Rather than target your self for unwanted attention There is a time and place for a the loud car. In front of the Local Authorities is not the place. We run a Flowmaster 40 Series on the Girlfriends 66 Valiant...and it comes out right before the left rear tire. Even thou I know several of these officers personally....And I still wont taunt them. You will get much more respect from them for you and your car if you show a little respect as well... I speak from a VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON I LEARNED WHEN I WAS 18!... Over $300.00 Ticket for loud exhaust on a Z1900 Kawasaki ( a 4 into 1 KERKER ) AND THAT WAS IN 1980!!! All because I rapped on the throttle in front of the local PD. "LET THE TIGER SLEEP, DON'T POKE IT WITH A STICK UNTIL IT WAKES UP" GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TRIP TO THE SHOP! Terry |

If you only drive it to the muffler shop and don't be a fool about it, there is really nothing they can do. You have the right to take the car in to be repaired. |

Yeah, thanks everybody for the input, my friends dad is a semi retired cop here (has squad car but mostly does school security but dies some Patrol) I'll ask him to stop by and see what his opinion is being a local pd |
