Post subject:  Lower ball joint pricing question?

Why are lower ball joints for 67-72 A Body so much more expensive than 73 and up to the tune of 40 to 50 bucks difference??? They are just stinking ball joints…

low end parts.
73+ = 25 bucks ea.
67-72 = 64 bucks ea.

Bah humbug

Well Bill, if I was the boss of the plant and someone told me it was great money in producing ball joints for a model lasting for five whole years, but unfortunately ended it's production life 39 years ago, I would perhaps say 'OK, but be sure we're making money on these!'

Perhaps.

You can almost build yourself a new Mopar from NOS parts, as long as it is from the golden years between '57 and '76! You are very, very lucky to have a Mopar born before end of '76, when they - as far as manufacturers think - halted all production of rear wheel drive Mopars!

It is possible the '73 and up also fit B body apps too.

Zilla I think you got it. Didn’t A Body go to the larger upper ball joint, the same joint Chrysler used 30 years or more on all their other models in 73? Perhaps Walter said; “enough all ready with the special parts, use the stuff in the bin we put in everything elseâ€￾.

I guess the brain wasn’t in gear last night.

Bill, the F-body uses a threaded upper ball joint, does your car have that too, or are they press fit joints?

Yes, they used a lot of B/E body stuff when they went to the large bolt pattern and Unicast disc brakes. :D

Top joint is threaded.
