| Post subject: | Carb question. |
Morning all, New guy here with questions. I recently acquired a 225 six with a 904 transmission and the juke box drive from a 1962 Dart. The rest of the car is not worth messing with, but the engine runs well. I think I'd like to build some kind of hot rod, rat rod entertainment. I can make up a frame, mount the motor, plop on a body but I have carb questions. Is it possible, strike that, I have a Saw-Zall anything's possible, will it run if I had six flat slide Mikuni carbs bolted to runners that went down into each cylinder? Synchronizing and working the linkage isn't a problem, just curious if this would deliver enough fuel to a pretty stock engine. Sometimes my imagination bites off more than my limited engineering skills can chew, but I'm willing to try anything. A magazine holds a contest every year, compete in 1/4 mile drags, Auto-X and Concours; can't spend more than $2010 show all receipts. This includes the price of the car. This is what I built for $2004. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articl ... ge-batvan/ Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Dan |

The pics are missing in the post above, I have pm'd Richard about it. Hi 914Driver, and welcome to the forum. Our member Dolmetch also used 6 small carbs on his /6 Senior Dragster project, they were snowmobile carbs without float chambers, as far as I remember. Take a look at this link, that dragster is almost built like a rod. I don't know how much time you have had for browsing the forum yet, but I recommend that you take a long peek in the 'Frequently Asked Questions' in the engine section (and all other sections), the link 'Best of Doctor Dodge' for example, will guide you through engine buildups, and you will find a lot of other very useful links in that sticky thread. Judging from that fantastic Batvan, I guess we can expect some really spectacular things from you in the future. I hope you will follow up with a lot of pics underway. Olaf. |

Richard can bring you up to speed on how much he had to open the main jets up. As I recall they ended up pretty big. CJ |

Welcome Dan! That Batvan looked pretty wicked. I'm seeing more rat rods in magazines and on the internet. Cool stuff! Have fun, do yourself a favor and read through the FAQs. I would also suggest that you utilize the search function. This site has been here for awhile, and there are several years of useful info available to us. Welcome! Wes |

Thanks for the help and the welcome guys. I scanned the FAQ but must have been speed reading. I'll spend more time there. Dan |
