I've rebuilt a number of big block 727's but have never touched a 904. I'm sure many of the 727 tricks will transfer to the 904, but are there any specific 904 things I should know. Or is there any posts or websites that deal specifically with a 904 build? Thanks! ________ HONDA MB/T/X SERIES HISTORY |

If you can build a 727,you'll be fine. The only "GOTCHAs" I can think of would be the Lo-R band. You have single wrap and double wrap bands, and two, maybe three different styles of band linkages. The different combos take different adjustment specs. S/6 904s often used "left over" parts too.Examples are the 68-70 style valve body was used untill at least 74,and V-8 904s got the double wrap band in 71,S/6s it was the late 70s. Be carefull you don't mix up the 904 parking lock control rod with a 727 one.You can use the A-500 front band in a 904,it's 1/8 inch wider, and works well for a heavy duty build. |
