Ok, I give up, where the *&%$^%$ is the horn relay located on a 77 Ply Volare? |

Maybe it has been removed, and that is why the horn ain’t horning… |

Found it, its on the fuse block. Now to locate a new one. |

From the '78 manual: If the horn do not sound, release the parking brake and shift transmission into 'Park'. While starting the car, observe the 'Brake' light. If it fails to light, the steering column grounding clip is missing or the column is not properly fastened to the instrument panel, resulting in loss of ground to the horn switch. If the 'Brake' light comes on but the horns still do not sound, check for a blown 20 amp. horn use in the fuse block....bla, bla check with test light to see if you get juice to he horn...bla bla replace relay and see if horn hoots! That's it! There is a relay on the fuse block, and fuse number 4, 25 amp., is for the horn. Olaf. |

What if it is a 4-speed? You know, no "PARK". The fuse is good and there is power to the horn button. If the parking brake is not set the BRAKE light does not come on when I turn the key. I need to run a wire from the horn button to a good ground before buying a new relay. Thanks and I'll let you know in the morning what I find. |

Hah, I didn't say it was logical, I said it was in the manual.  Seriously, my horns on the Aspen stopped working, maybe because I rarely use them. I cracked one open, and it was full of rust, and beyond repair. I ended up testing some old ones till I found one that beeped. Olaf |

Ok so where is the steering column grounding clip. If I run a wire from the horn button to a good ground the horn honks so apparently the column is not grounded properly. |

Ok, the horn works now. So, what I did was dropped the column, removed the plastic piece that goes on the column that the stud goes through. Sanded the paint off of the column, inserted a wire between the plastic piece and the bare metal. put the column back in place and finally wrapped the wire around the stud that holds the column up. It took 30 min and used a 4" piece of wire. Now if Advance Auto can just get my gas cap to the correct store  I'll get my inspection and emission stickers tomorrow.Thanks for your helpfull hint olafla! |

Glad to be of help. One thing I had to replace in my Aspen, is the plastic foam piece behind the horn button, it crumled and turned to dust when touching it. When that happens, the problem is not that the horn don't beep: it won't stop beeping! In the end I jerked off the wire to the horns to make it stop! Olaf. |
