As I have been restoring my 64 Valiant I have come across many instances where someone along the way has changed the wiring, used the wrong sizes, wrong colors, etc. to the point where for safety reasons I want to just start from scratch. I have done searches on here and on the internet and so far have not found an NOS or reproduction harness specific to this car. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated...thanks Mark |

This is a hard question to answer. Depending on your wiring skills, and ability to follow Chrysler wiring diagrams, I could say build a harness your self, or order “them†from one of several venders such as Year One (they have your car listed) which would be very, very expensive. I said “themâ€, because most of the reproduction harnesses are sold in sub sections. In other words, engine compartment, under dash, and everything south of dash to rear bumper. Like you I was faced with a major 40 year hack job, burnt & melted wires, gages that didn’t work, corroded connectors, and brittle insulation in my Dart. I also had several mechanical items that needed replacing such as 100% of suspension, brakes, transmission work, and a more. I didn’t think the 700 bucks required to purchase new harnesses stem to stern was worth it. So I repaired the factory harness by replacing some conductors, all brass connectors, fuse block, gage circuit board, and adding a few relays to operate the top pump. About 40% of the wiring was replaced. This took a good deal of time as it was March in Maine working in an unheated garage, but the result was very good, no electrical problems since the rebuild three years ago. I even had the AM radio restored… |

Thanks. Dan they do not make the dash harness by the way. I do have some skill level in wiring having totally redone a twin engine boat from stem to stern but it wasn't a lot of fun and very time consuming. However, I think that is what I will do here as well. I will just use the wiring diagram and recreate what was original. Mark |

Mark, I should add here that I did purchases a few items from Mr. Evens that I couldn’t duplicate such as the molded end and conductor for temperature gage, and a new bulkhead connector. True, Evens dose not reproduce dash harnesses, but he will make up any single section of a harness, or special contraptions such as a points car that has been converted to EI, or different than stock year transmission neutral safety switch etc. |

And where did you buy your kit? What year is your car. Pre 1967 items are much harder to come by...thanks |
