I've been told that one thing which helps is to install a posi (or whatever Mopar called it), but are there any other parts out there...or just go 8-1/4? ________ Meth Rehab Dicussion |

Depends on what kind of power your going to make. SureGrip is the name for it. I went with an 8" Ford rear out of a 72 or so Ford maverick. Drops right in. A driveline shop welded a ford end on the back of my driveshaft, so it runs over the counter U-Joints. The 8" will handle just about anything a highly modified slant will throw at it, and there are inexpensive lockers available. Shock plates from a large tube rear will be needed, along with appropriate U-bolts. The 8-1/4" is a good choice for a hopped up slant six. Suregrip is a darn good idea. Being one legged is a pain at the strip. letting the air out of a tire, then pumping it back up to go home isn't much fun. 2¢ CJ |

Adding a sure grip to a 7 1/4 helps them a lot but finding a good SG unit for a 7 1/4 is hard and can be expensive. There is not much else you can do to an open unit... the spider gears are just too small to carry any high loads. DD |
