Is anyone yet making a bigger clutch for the slants that doesn't require a different bellhousing? I read somewhere on this board that a 10-1/2" can be used but it requires a different (custom?) bell. ________ Ipod games |

Have you read this? http://www.slantsix.org/articles/clutch ... utches.htm Aside from the scalloped 10" clutch nothing larger than the 9 1/4" is a direct bolt-in. |

Thanks for that. Pretty good info. I did notice that the article was written 10 years ago, but I guess nothing has changed since then? ________ MERCEDES-BENZ CL-CLASS |

Yep there are only 3 bolt in options at the moment... Mopar A-body 3 and 4 speed cars with our standard flywheel can use the 9 1/4" and 10" clutch... Some slant six trucks use a larger flywheels when opted for the NP435 "granny geared" 4 speed...these use the same 11" clutch that the 383-2v 3-spd vehicles used...the give away is the low mounted starter...the problem with this installation is the need to use a hammer to make room in the A-body for the bellhousing and secondly the NP 435 does not have the same bolt pattern as the other manual trannys...so you then will need to have it modified or make an adaptor... -D.Idiot |
