Will a head off an 80's engine (hydraulic cam) work on an older block, say from '66? |

Yes, it will work. You'll need to use the mechanical valve gear from the solid lifter engine, but with the rear-most hold down bolt from the late head. The '81+ valve cover will need to stay with the head. |

The later heads have induction hardened exhaust valve seats which are more wear resistant. The '67 and newer heads have an improved combustion chamber. http://www.slantsix.org/articles/combus ... hamber.htm |
