The push-button shifters and cables are quite reliable, but they are at least 47 years old by now and may require some maintenance. They do have more moving parts than the column shift so ultimate reliability is probably a little less. If the shift mechanism is reasonably clean and lubricated it works easily. Cable adjustment is important. Follow the factory service manual's procedure. The 727 is larger and heavier than the 904. It's the only automatic available behind B and RB big block engines. It's complete overkill for a slant six A body. |
