Anyone ever run their slantsix thru smog testing? I have a 91 D150 with a 318.. its tired and can't pass smog now. Its allowed 160ppm on the HC and its blowing over 200 with a new cat. It also only ever got 10-12mpg.. I have a few good slants and was thinking of swapping one in. Has anyone ever smog tested their engine and have some numbers? I need to know if a slant has a chance of hitting 1991 numbers. I can't really justify rebuilding the 318 because the value is so low on the pickup and it gets such crap millage. |

Yes, but only at idle: HC ppm: Vehicle reading 261 Max allowable: 968 Average passing reading: 202 This was with a decently tuned slant in a 72 Dart, with an (converted) electronic ignition. For some reason I thought I'd do better than average... This is with no Cat. The paper also says I should get 100kms out of 9.4 litres of gasoline... Seems a bit optimistic |
