I have a pair of 1980 f bodies and i need to know wether the volare has a lock up or bot as you use a different trans fluid. Any easy way of doin it without jacking the car up?

Both of those cars almost certainly have the lockup converter -- they would've come with it from the factory. You can check by driving the car and paying careful attention to the shifts. Listen and feel for the 1-2 shift (easy; the sound changes), then the 2-3 shift, and then between 45 and 55 mph you will detect another "shift" and the engine RPM will drop by about 600 rpm. If you're having trouble detecting it, hook up a tachometer, route its wires into the passenger compartment through the door weatherstrip, and keep an eye on it as you drive.

You don't use different transmission fluid for lockup vs. non-lockup. See here for info on trans fluid selection.

While you are at it, save yourself a good deal of trouble: Discard the floppy cork or rubber pan gasket that comes with the filter kit. Instead, from the Chrysler dealer get the really nice double-seal, reusable rigid pan gasket P/N 4295 875AC. (Note these part numbers are for A904 transmissions, which have a roughly square-shaped transmission pan with one corner cut off. The larger A727 transmissions use a different pan and a different pan gasket.)
