OK
thats the standard answer for anything
lets say I trade/sell/give it away
then its GONE and hopefully gets some use.

why would I need? mine break?
how?
heat?
has this ever happen to anyone else?

wreck?
well then its all over rebuild...
so why would I need them in real terms.....

Stock manifolds crack pretty regularly. My '72 Dart daily driver with 90K miles cracked and when I first got GodsRods Duster I the manifold on it was cracked almost in half in two places!

So that puts me at 2 for 2...

I had a spare one in storage for six years. When they delivered my stuff a couple months ago that was one of the things they lost... :?

why do they crack?

I have had 5-6 slants and none were ever cracked..even with 235K miles driver..

lose motor mounts/exhaust..
there's got to be more then just heat..

I've never had one crack. Not sure what the issues are - maybe overheating or lean mixtures?

Mine warped over a period of time - I skimmed it and the intake on a mill to square everything up.

For me, being in the UK, the most useful spares to keep hold of are the big heavy bits like manifolds, since they are the most expensive things to ship.

I'd personally keep it - from what I have gleaned from the board, exhausts warping and cracking is one of the more common problems with this engine. All those special fixings are designed to allow the casting to slide as it expands, and over a period of time these heat cycles eventually take their toll on the casting.

Having said that, others have never had a problem. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

OK
but here in the USA people give away whole engines/ kinda regular say 3-4 a year within a 500 mile road trip.

Im thinkin of trade..there r some items I need for our 1968 Dart..

You could port and polish your spare manifolds in your spare time.

Then switch them for the existing ones.

(then decide what to do with the existing ones)
