I still can't get over how heavy mine feels. Maybe I am just getting old....sigh. |

Cast iron SL6 heads weigh between 76 and 86 lbs., depending on the casting number. (later "peanut plug" heads are heaver then tube style heads) DD |

Interesting, where you guess the extra metal is? Just the design, is maybe thicker deck and runner walls? I have never messed or even had a peanut head before. Jess |

It's in the spark plug side of the head. Instead of having big holes for the tubes, the head is solid. |

Mike J said the peanut head is the best to port, they have thicker port walls, so a pound or so will be found there. |

Mine felt about 210 lbs when I slung it on my shoulder and threw my back out last March. |

I have gotten numbers between 69-79 lbs using a digital scale. The 74-down heads are the lightest and 75-79 are heaviest. Lou |
