Post subject:  Question from a new guy about 1945 Holley carb

just picked up a 1985 Dodge D100 with a 1945 Holley. think its gonna have to be rebuilt. And nobody around here seems to have a choke thermostate for me either. Could I live without the choke therm for the summer time and just pump the accelerator a bit before I start it? Thats what I have been doing to start it for now although it does flood a bit. Also sometimes when I put it in reverse it dies???? Any ideas on why this happens??? Thanks in advance for any help with these issues.

I'll try to post some pics of this beauty when I get more time. Its only had one owner and is in great shape!

Choke stat should not be difficult to find for that. Check RockAuto.com or (my preference) get a #1234 Electric choke kit. Unlike the factory choke, it's adjustable.

Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

Get a new float -- make it one of the brass ones, Walker #100-48. Get a kit from www.daytonaparts.com , they have a better type of inlet needle/seat.
