Another thing I thought of yesterday the valve cover I have doesn't have a pcv opening there both like oil fills one is 3/4 tall the other is 1 1/2 tall and there both 1 1/2 wide. How do I assure there is proper venting going on in there or should I go to another cover. Kinda don't want to since I already painted this one and it has all the stock goodies on it like the heater hose clamp bracket and the plastic wire thingies on the side while my chromie has nothing not even the baffels inside. |

That's a '60-'65 cover.Oil cap/breather goes on the front chimney. PCV cap + valve + retainer spring goes on the rear chimney. If you don't have a PCV cap and valve, you can buy the official package w/original type metal valve from Mopar Performance. Or you can get a used cap and spring, and install a plastic valve as described here. '66-'69 covers have a front chimney for the oil cap/breather and a plain hole at the rear for the grommet. |

I'm just curious but why does there need to be the valve will a straight hose from a nippled cover work the same or is there something I'm missing. My thinking is the valve only opens with suction so it seems to follow that a straight hose would work with the same with no valve to stick. Seems logical.

The PVC valve is a metered leak, full vacuum will cause big carburetor problems (can you say big vacuum leak).  Richard |

Got it. I did some research on it after the fact. So last ?? on this if switching from the stock the 4bbl intake and all the internals to go along with it does the valve need to be different or should the stocker work ok? |
