Yes.

Put your budget together. If it isn't four digits, don't go with boost. If you've got plenty of money and time, go for it!

Well right off, your setting good for a great engine build. The 198 and the 225 have the same block and bore. You can put a 225 crank in it and use the 198 rods, just get a nice set of pistons and you have one of the better builds going.

The longer rods of the 198 allow you to use a shorter piston and get a better rod ratio, you can get a forged piston with newer style rings so you get a free reving slant with much less drag which will give better HP and durability.

NOw as far as N/A or boost, basically its how much do yuo want to spend, and how much power do you want. To have a street driver with a N/A engine your going to be around 250 to 275 HP (on a good build)with around 320 to 350 torque. In a Aspen this would be ok, but its not going to be very fast. STill it would be a fun driver that woudl last very good. Of course you can get more power but it would have to be setup to turn more RPM with higher compression so it would not be as streetable.

To go turbo you can build the same engine with the 225 crank and the long 198 rods, forged pistons, better rings, but not run as much compression. You end up with a lot more power ( 400 to 600 plus) and a ton of torque which would move a Aspen very nice, and still be very streetable. Heck even at low boost ( 15 psi) and the right turbo you could have a 11 second car on pump gas. Assuming a proper turbo system is built and the right size turbo ( maybe a 6265/6465 bb with ceramic bearings) is used.

These engines seem to be tayler made for boost and they respond great to it. I am guessing by the cars you have listed owning that you can afford to build a pretty fair setup. WIth a good EFI system and the right turbo you could still be very streetable and make the power meantioned.

Of course much depends on what you are wanting. You could build the N/A setup with the stack carbs ( I assume you are talking about three weber side drafts with IR intake) and make a little more power N/A, but not that much unless you start adding higher compression and RPM. It can be done and still be driven but its not like you will reach much more power. Added a NOS system on top of it would get your there, but again it all depends on what you want out fo the car. The Aspen is a little bit heavy and IMHO going with a good engine build and adding EFI with a turbo would be the best route to take. Thats just my oppinion, and I love a high RPM multi carb setup, they are cool. But it doesnt compair to the power levels reachable with a turbo, or the streetablility.

SO what do you want the car to do ? ANd how much you plan on spending? You have to know this before really making choices.
