hello. i replaced the turn signal cam in my sons 86 D100 last week, no issues at the time. now the right brake light works ONLY when the left turn signal is on. emergrncy flashers work except for the right rear. and the right rear turn signal works when turned on. when no turn signals are on the right rear brake light does not work. my guess is needs new turn signal switch or emergency flasher switch, or flasher unit. anyone deal with this before? thanks, andy. |

Yup.Turn signal switch is probably too sloppy, and will need replacing. All those circuits that are giving you a problem, run through that signal switch. A quick test: Try pulling directional lever gently toward steering wheel, and operating the different lights. Chances are good applying a little pressure to the switch will cure the problem. Or, with steering wheel removed compress switch parts with your finger, and work the different lights. |

thanks. that was my guess. we had it apart again today and some "fiddling" with the arm had inconsistent effects on lights, but an effect none the less. i was hoping for confirmation before spending the money for the switch. napa price 100 bucks and they have to order it from supplier. or cheap BWD from advance auto, don't think i want the BWD as i've gotten nothing but junk from them. is there a good source for these? thanks again, andy. |

turn signal/hazard switch was the culprit. ordered online from a Chrysler dealership for $44.96 (part #4216818), but when arrived it had the wrong connector and they said this one is for a B series van and the correct one would be fifty bucks more as it is discontinued and would have to be ordered from vintage parts. the dealership requested, and was given, the VIN and still got it wrong. i simply cut the connector off and spliced in the one from the old switch after verifying that both switches were wired the same. works great and saved fifty bucks and undoubtedly voided any warranty on new switch. andy. |
