Yes, the distributor will fit. Yes, the engine will fit, but you will want to use the '65 oil pan and pickup, and you will need to put the 1/8" annular spacer ring between the pre-'68 small torque converter nose and the '68-up large crankshaft counterbore. (What's the trouble with your '65 engine?) |

The car show 85000 miles, and the engine is tired, takes oil.Since I got the other one for free, may as well use it . Might be cheaper on gas, it's my daily driver, use it to go to work every day. Travel 50 miles easily, back and forth. |

What do you mean by pickup? the oil pickup pipe down the oil pan?

Oui, ça y est, la tube et crépine d'admission d'huile, à l'intérieur du carter d'huile.Mais ça ne me dérange pas. (I guess my english shows I'm french canadian) In that case would my automatic transmission flywheel fit on the 1987 engine, since this one is equip with a standard transmission flywheel? |

What distributor are you using? 1965 or 1987? If 1965, set the timing to 5° avant haut-centre. |

Wondering if he will have to change the oil pan & pick-up since the donor motor is going in a C Body?

Whether you use the original '65 points distributor, or if you have upgraded to a newer electronic unit, use the dist you have been running. The one electronic dist from the '87 truck should be an ESA non-vacuum advance unit. |

Thank's. Yes I still have the 1965 engine in the car. Didn't had time to swap engine. Yesterday I checked where water was entering the trunk, found out it is the inner wheel well that are partly rusted, and had been repaired with a silicone bead that started leaking, since silicone does'nt stick too well on rust. It should keep me busy over the week end. |

Finally did the swap.Worked well exept for one thing, tis engine has a egr valve that work with the vaccum. When I first started and for the next 2 days the engine had no idle, found out that the pin between the vaccum and the egr valve was broken, so the egr valve stayed open all the time creating a lost of vaccum. This engine has a two barrel carburator, and from what I've read the only year they made a two barrel carb is 77 and 78. Also I ordered a valve cover gasket for a 1987 engine and it didn't fit. And the annular ring didn't work, in fact I had to enlarge the hole of the flex plate to fit the end off the crankshaft. One question: How can I identify my engine? |
