B body torsion bars are longer; too long by several inches. You need to find A body bars in good shape, and that are a matched set. You best bet would be to purchase new bars from one of several suspension venders; Firm Feel being one. Keep in mind if you purchase new bars you will have a choice of spring rates. The stock slant six bars are quite softly sprung in comparison to a modern car. Many folks choose to go with a stiffer bar, and to a point, a stiffer bar will promote better handling. Used bars are old, and one dose not know how many miles of flexing they have cycled through. Torsion bars do become fatigued over time and use. Also, if you install new bars, you should replace all the front end bushings as well. |
