Post subject:  Valve Timing Specs needed from 72/73 shop manual

Hello! Sorry to be so dramatic about it, but I am in DESPERATE NEED of the Valve Timing specs for a stock cam from a '72 or '73 Slant.

I have an old Plymouth shop manual for '69. It states them as follows:

Intake opens 10 degrees BTC
Intake closes 50 degrees ABC
Exhaust opens 50 degrees BBC
Exhaust closes 6 degrees ATC

But I know these specs aren't correct because another generic manual I have for the '73 says Intake should open at 16 degrees BTC. Can anyone check their manual and provide me with these specs?

I got a degree wheel and a dial and I would love to get this resolved tonight or tomorrow!

THANKS A MILLION!!!

The cam changed between 1969 and 1973 which is why the specs are different. I don't use valve opening/closing points when degreeing a cam. I use the intake centerline.

Ceej, thank you very much for those specs!

Joshua Skinner, I'm sure the way I'm doing it is probably not the best way to do it, but I'm really just concerned with figuring out if my stock cam is advanced or retarded a tooth with the new timing gears/chain.

These specs should do the trick I hope!!

Correction! I typoed! Look at the above post again.

ATC is After Top center
BTC, before top center
ABC, After Bottom Center

That's funny Ceej, I was just returning to the page to double check because I couldn't figure out why they were so far off from '69 specs. But you corrected it! Thanks a bunch!!
