How much did you cut off when surfacing that head?

Nice work. That is a good basic port job and will net some significant HP gains.

I had it milled .125"
Thanks Lou, I smoothed up my bowl work some more since I took those pics. Taking it back to my machinist this morning for the final valve job.

Very clean. I used the australian gasket for my template and didn't realize until I opened it a LOT that it was bigger than the american version. Luckily the hurricane intake has a lot of beef to match. The headers..well they will be close enough.

The previous owner had already ported this head but with stock valves. My machinist roughed-in the valve job and I blended the deep cut into the bowl and tried to smooth that transition and blend everything together.

I have no idea what the stock ports look like at this point. It will be interested to see how it runs. Laying a used Felpro gasket against the ports they are a pretty good match but looks like I might need to trim the new gasket some for a really good match.

I am considering putting this head on my stock engine that is in the car now and just use a thick felpro gasket and see what difference it makes in performance.
