After some searching I found a NOS oil pressure gauge for my truck that will fit in where the idiot light is currently at. I'm about to swap them out and I remember reading something on here about how these trucks are already wired for both the gauge and idiot light. How do I go about verifying this? Is there a connector or something behind the dash for the gauge?

Hi Jeb, there is a new electrical wiring diagram available for download at mymopar.com for the '79 model Trucks. I don't know how many differences they managed to make within 3 years, but it may be worth checking out.

Olaf.

Thanks for the link. I dug out my old hayes manual and found out which wire goes to the sending unit. I just have to crawl under my truck now and see if it has the sending unit for the gauge. I know it has dual sending units.

I did the swap tonight and it was surprisingly easy. I double checked my sending unit and it looks like I have to change it to the one for a gauge. I did however locate the connector in the harness for the gauge.

Here is a pic of it after the install. I'm still trying to track down a temperature gauge.
