| Post subject: | passenger sideview mirror |
I have the plain round manual mirror on the drivers side of my '72 Valiant. I found and added a matching mirror to the passenger side. The only problem is the glass is not the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" type nor do I know if chrysler made available the plain mirror this way for the passenger side. Should I just visit the local yard and buy a passenger mirror from something like a mini-van and have the glass cut to fit or is there a direct fit mirror for this application. Mirror measures 4 1/4" in diameter. Thanks for your help.... |

The convex passenger mirror came along well after A-bodies went out of production. If you want this kind of glass in your passenger mirror (which you do, because with flat glass the passenger mirror is useless) you'll have to have it made. |

Thanks Dan....I know what you mean about the mirror being useless as it is....I will check out a local glass shop. So were the passenger sport and deluxe mirrors that were optional on some models not convex either?....I guess the left was for the driver and the right was for the passenger..lol |

Convex sideview mirrors were not available at all. Glass shops probably won't be able to help. I do know of one outfit in Europe that supplies individual custom sideview mirror glass to the buyer's specification; they are here (and they speak English, and their prices are reasonable). I have been meaning to send a precisely-measured spec to them and specify glass with a convex curvature radius of about 900mm. Haven't got around to it yet, don't know when I will. Let me know how you make out if you try them.

Dan, just curious, what are the dimensions of the glass you are looking for? I have an '86 Dodge omni GLH in a storage garage with dual round mirrors. Tomorrow I will take measurements and see if the glass specs out the same as these plain mirrors (4.25" diameter) on my Valiant. Might be a possible source. still digging! |

Donno. Roughly 4". Won't know exactly until the end of the month when I'm at the car's same physical location. It's the "looks like the driver's side remote" mirror I've got.
