Is there any quick way to identify mopar alternators? years and output?

I agree. but I haven't found any part numbers.

I was hoping for a rule of thumb for single vs two field. round back vs. square back. Maybe a windings resistance check or pulley diameter reference.

Nope. There were many dozens of variants of the Chrysler alternator. Roundbacks came in output ratings from 30 to 60 amps, squarebacks from 34 to 78 amps. All of them came with a multitude of different pulley configurations. Part number is stamped on the rear housing just forward of the B+ output stud on the early units, stamped on a round anodised aluminum tag secured to the front housing by one of the through-bolts on the later units, and usually absent on "remanufactured" or aftermarket units.

What're you trying to find, exactly?
