Good Day all. Itried to do a search for this but I must be search challanged. How complicated is it to remove and replace the third member in the 8.75. I would give the ratio Im using but I know Ill get bashed  sooo I could use some tech advice to help me out. I think its pretty basic but I have not tried it yet so I thought Id ask the pros. Dan feel free to chime in I always appreciate your input and help. Side note looks like the new motor should be in within the next month including trans. Very excited yeeeee haaaaaa

Support the rear of the vehicle on jack stands and block the front wheels. Remove rear wheels and brake drums. Remove the 5 nuts retaining the axle in the housing and pull the axle. Repeat on the other side. Disconnect the driveshaft. Remove the 10 nuts holding the 3rd member to the housing. Careful, it's heavy and if there is lube in the housing most of it will come out.

Okay I'm flustered now. I have tried being nice to no avail. Even tried the reverse brake drum and pull like a limited slide hammer still nothing. Any other ideas??? Will having the green bearings in make that much of a difference?

Did you get all five of the nuts out that you have to reach through the axle to get? I have never ran the Green bearings but I dont think there is anything different about removing them, it just you dont have the slack ajusters anymore. Remove five nuts behind axle flange and they should slide out.
After axels are out so far then third member can be removed.

Sorry about the lag in response time. Apparently the shop taht did the original install believed in a lot of black silicone and things were just well adhered. The slide hammer did the trick and alls good.
