There seems to be a bit of information on sales codes out and about on the net for 1962 and onwards for Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodges. Does any one have a source for sales codes for 1960 and 1961. The few I have are not the same for 1962 cars and later. any help would be great.
Cheers Shime

What do you mean by “Sales Codesâ€￾? Option build codes such as power steering, radio, light package etc.?

Or, model numbering such as say Lancer 170 series:
SL1L 713 = 4-dr sed-6P
SL1L 711 = 2dr-Sed-6P

Or, build statistics of each model as above broken out by six or eight cylinder; standard or automatic?

The ones I am talking about are the ones you could have ticked the boxes when you ordered a car in 60 or 61. they are (as far as I have noticed) a 3 numbered code used by dealers when ordering options for your car. Some samples are :

sales code 287 = 3 speed torqueflite automatic transmission with 6 cyl
sales code 359 = 225 slant 6 with 1 bbl carb
sales code 407 = Glove box lock.

But I find a big different from the 60/61 codes to 62 onwards.

A couple of the sales order codes I havent been able to find are :

hyper pack power package
rear child guard safely lock
courtesy light
day/nite inside rear view mirror
door to door mats
glove compartment light
safety seat belts

plus a few others.

Any help would be great.

Hyper Pack I believe was a dealer installed upgrade, as most likely seat belts were pre 1966 on some models.

Not all options were available on all models.

You can look here for some of the codes; were these codes listed the same numbers used at the sales desk, I don’t know. Over time some of these codes mutated to reference other options, and more were added as automobile options became more numerous.

Thanks Wjajr,

I did come across that link in my research. It was great for 62 onwards. Ricks Garage was even better for 62 plus years.

60/61 must have been a weird 2 years for Chrysler.

Except the day/night rear view mirror, which may or may not have been available in those years, there are no sales codes for any of these because none of them was installed at the factory. Everything you've listed was dealer-installed.

Thanks Dan,

That makes sense. So if it could be ordered from the factory and installed on the production line..it had a sales code.

If it was dealer installed.. No sales code.

So it would be safe to say, a customer who was purchasing a new 1960 Valiant who wanted a set of seat belts in their car would just request it and the dealer would use part numbers to refer to then.

Yep! There's an "Accessories" section (section 1) in the factory parts catalogue. Contains things like sideview mirrors, seat belts, floor mats, child safety door locks, vanity mirrors, glovebox light kits, courtesy light kits, and so on.

Would there have been a sales code to order a alloy 225 engine. (because they were factory installed and not dealer installed) Or were alloy engines put into cars ordered with a 225 at random.

The only engine code that I have found with a 225 is 359-225 slant 6 with 1-bbl carb. and it doesnt state either cast or alloy.

cheers for the help so far.

The latter. In the late '61 to early '63 timeframe, some cars ordered with 225 engines got aluminum 225s, and others got the iron block.
