Does anyone have a scan of the wiring diagram for an 84 D100 225 with lean burn? The positive battery post has a mess of wires coming from it. Turning the key doesn't turn the truck on. You have to turn the key all the way forward and then use this push button device thats connected to the starter. I know the starter relay isn't wired correctly but I need some kind of diagram so I can figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. |

These are from an 84 van. An 84 truck should be the same. ![]() ![]() Click on the pictures to make them bigger. Most likely you have a blown fusible link. They come right off the (+) battery terminal. I once bought a 78 Dodge van where none of the electrical worked and the previous owner had poorly rigged up a points ignition to get it to run. I traced all the electrical problems back to a blown fusible link. A few dollars in parts and about 20 minutes in labor later the electrical systems on the van were fixed perfectly. I later dumped the points ignition for an electronic ignition system. |

Thanks Reed, you are a life saver. I don't know what it is because the positive battery cable has a nasty mangled mess of twisted and bolted on wires all over the place. There is a wire with a fuse holder going from the + terminal to the starter relay. I put a 20amp fuse in it to see what would happen and the truck started cranking on its own. Thats when I was like yeah I better get a schematic before I go any further lol. edit - Got it figured out. Two of the wires were in the wrong places. Moved them around, cleaned up all the electrical and it started up with the key. I'm just glad it wasnt anything in the column. |
