Runs fine when opened up more though.... I've been searching the site for answers but I use my phone for web browsing and its not ideal... I replaced the bowl gasket because it was leaking the carb has never given my problems before so I didn't do a full rebuild that was two or three days ago cars been running great...
untill today when I was pulling onto a busy road the car died and then it ran really rough.
Car starts right up and idles real slow and rough out of the blue... I used the walker kit and my float was fine... I can drive it but I have to kinda punch it off a stop or it dies its a holley 1920 has a holley rebuilt sticker on it...
Its doing the same thing again only less extreme it still dies with light throttle... if i open it up its fine but if i crack it a littlest it starts to stumble and dies, its also fairly hot out here in SC and it seems to happen when hot...

Have you connected a vacuum gauge to it yet? If so, what are you reading?

Pick up a cheap one at harbor freight. Without a vac gauge, tach and timing light everything is just a guess.

Got the idle handled, however I'm gettin a intermittent puff sound accompanied by suction from my tailpipe... I also have a exhaust leak on my exhaust manifold... however its been like that since I bought it. Thanks for all the help and info from you all!

Ps planning to go to harbor freight this week, I need feeler gauges as well.. anything else I need to pick up besides vac gauge timing light?

Suction in the tailpipe could indicate an exhaust valve problem, sticking perhaps.

Recommend considering a cylinder compression test gauge, in addidtion to the other stuff.

In my experience, a chuff or pfft from the exhaust pipe is a burned valve. The only thing I've run across that was similar was a sticking hydraulic lifter.

Do that first. Sounds like a tight exhaust valve.

set my valves to .10 and .20 took my time and it was running like a champ all week to stumble no bog perfect! started it up this morning and went inside came back out and car had died...

im getting the chuff from the tailpipe (though not as bad as before) and a lope and a lot of vibration...

it dies under light throttle and the less i open it the faster it dies...
