I was wondering what is the preferred brand of timing set. Cloyes, Comp, Sealed Power, Enginetech or Mahle or is there any real difference? I think my 77 Aspen is probably due for a new one. The car is my beater so I don't need anything fancy. Thanks in advance Mike

As long as it's got a steel cam gear and not the aluminum/plastic one, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

I have bought several brand of the replacement for stock over the years and they are all pretty much the same crank gear, same chain, and the same swiss cheese metal cam gear....

They work fine on stock to mild builds just fine...roller chain would be a waste on these applications...

Thanks for the replies. I just went ahead and ordered a Cloyes as I've had good luck with them in the past.
