Post subject: | Truck bell housing question |
I have a 4speed bell housing that came off a 83 1/2ton 4x4 its bolted to a 360 motor and a granny geared 4speed. NP435. Any chance the bell housing will bolt to an A833 abody 4speed. And if so If i use the slant to small block addapter can I us the trucks clutch and flywheel on my slant. Will the starter be in the right place in my 64 valiant? |

The NP435 and A833 have different bolt patterns. That's the first no. If you had the Slant Six to LA adapter as used on the A100s you'd still have a flywheel with only 5 bolts that match up and a 360 is externally balanced so that is two-ways to the second no. All LA bellhousings put the starter low on the driver's side which is not the same place as original to the '64 Valiant. Is that the wrong place or right place? It is different. What's wrong with getting the proper bellhousing and using the standard passenger car clutch? Neither are rare or expensive. |

Thanks for the quick reponse. I was just trying to see if I could use some of the parts I have laying around. I guess I will have to clean house and look at other options. Thanks again. |
