Thanksgiving weekend. Turkey Run, car show (all makes, not just Mopar). Daytona Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida. Any one planning on attending? I will have my Barracuda there, if I get the interior reinstalled. If I don't get the interior done, I will be taking my 69 Dodge Polara. The Inliners will be having a cookout on Saturday, and I will be over by them at that time. http://www.inliners.org/ www.turkeyrun.com |

Hey charrlie, I was wondering if you would like to come up to Jacksonville this saturday to Jax raceway. They are having a big foot brake and door slammer race, and I'll be there running time only passes, but it would be nice to have another slant six there. If interested I can give more details. By the way, where do you usually run your car at, and how often? Jason. |

something to think about. Is Jax 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile? I still have the 5.38 gears in the car, and will not have time to change them. But I would like to try to run a sub 8 sec 1/8 mile time before I pull the motor, to freshen it up. Let me know. |

Charlie, your ready to go, Jax is 1/8 mile. Track is north of Jax off of I-95, The first exit north of airport exit (I think) which is Pecan Park Rd. Head east about a half mile and track is on right. Cecil |

Hey charrlie, everything that slant cecil wrote is correct. I called the track and the gates open at 11:00, and time elims start at 12. They said that they should be running finals at about 4:30. Then they are going to close the gates and open them again at 6:00pm for test and tune. The money race entry fee is 35, and the test and tune is only 15. Since I will only be running time only runs, I will probably get there about 6:00. Write back and let me know if you are going to make it, and what your car looks like. I will be the only person there with a white four door dart with a bad ass slant six. Thanks Jason. |

Jason, Hate to travel that far, just for a test and tune. I have to work Fri. evening, so will have to get the car ready Sat morning. That means I can't get there for the race. If you are sure you will be there, I will come up for the test and tune. I do want to try for a 7.9 time slip. We are going into a lot of over time at work, so this will be my last chance to run for awhile. Here is what my car looks like. http://www.slantsix.org/galleries/clayc ... -stage.jpg |

Hey I will be there for sure. I bolted the head, carb, intake, and headers back on last night. I only have a few things to do to be ready, but there is no reason why I won't be there. I hope you get everything worked and come out there. I am looking forward to handing your ass to you, I just hope you give me the chance to. |

Jason, going to try to get there about 6:00 PM also. It will take me about 3 hrs to get there (148mi). I will check here before I leave, or if I can't make it. Please let me know, if you will not be there. Man is it going to be cold. |

Jason, It was good to meet you. To bad we both had problems, and we were unable to run each other. After you left, I went to the staging lanes to talk to some people. Since the 6 sec. Camaro, that was parked next to us, and that red T-Bird had left early, I got the award for the quickest domestic car. My one good run was enough. Trophy and $50.00. Peg thought it was pretty kool. |

Hey Charlie, likewise. It was awesome to meet somebody that has just as much passion for the slant six as I do. That really does suck that we didn't get to run each other, but I assure you I will be back, and when I do make it back, you better watch out. I'll be damned if you come back to my home town track and take the fastest domestic again. haha. Anyway, thanks for coming and let me know what you find out about the car. I'll keep you posted as to what I dig up on my head. Congrats. Jason. |

Great that you two were able to "hook-up"! Nice job on the award Charlie. Boy it's nice when you can run the car all year 'round. DD |

Yes, but it was cold, probably in the 40's. Hurt my engine, on the 2nd run. Started missing in high gear. Pulled the plugs and one looked a little too dark on the insulator, like maybe too rich, from street driving. Thought it might have been arcing, down the carbon. Number 5 looked a little oily also. Put in another set of plugs, and heated the nitrous tank up to 1100lbs, previous run was at 800 lbs (tank was cold). When I launched the car, had a nitrous explosion, in the intake. When I get a chance to check it out, I will start another thread, and post the results. This was going to be the last race on the motor any way, so not too upset. Time to rebuild, and finish the Valiant, for next season |
