I have a 73 225 / 6. I want to add a Turbo but am totally lost at where everything hooks up. I believe I'll still need a wastegate ( Not sure what kind)???? and a Intercooler. I have enclosed a couple pics of what I have. If anybody out there can lead me in the right direction of how this thing goes together, I have no idea where the blowoff valve goes or the 2 flanges of the wastegate. I believe 1 of them will hook to the tube coming off the exhaust manifold. Thanks in advance.[/img] |

James, it looks like you have a learning curve ahead of you on this. Best thing to do right now, I think, is to check out some of the turbo build threads here in this board to get a feel for how guys are setting their slants up for turbo. There are many ways to go about it and you will find several different approaches here to the task. Some run carbs, some EFI, some intercooled, some not, but in general most things are the same. You need to adapt the exhaust to run the turbo, piping to feed the intake, oil lines to provide oil pressure and drain to the turbo, and a way to control boost. Some turbos have internal wastegates, some do not so an external waste gate is required. You also should have a way to increase the fuel to the engine because more air requires more fuel. This can be done in various ways. Monitoring the air/fuel ratio is very important through the tuning process so an O2 sensor/controller setup while not mandatory, is very very helpful and could save your engine. BTW, your pictures did not show up. Can you describe the parts you have now, turbo specs, etc. That will help us discuss your build.
