Post subject:  TFSC kit install - DIY?

Hey guys,
Decided to go ahead with the TransGo TFSC kit on my daughter's '68 Dart daily driver. I've rebuilt an 833OD but never messed around inside an automatic. Do I need any special tools, or cautions? Only thing I'm wondering as I read the instructions is how you drill holes measured in thousandths - do I need a special drill bit set? Any advice is much appreciated, thanks!

You probably need a "numbered" drill set, or they are giving fractional drill measurements in thousandths of an inch.

I bought a Superior TF-TC Shift Correction Package, and there all necessary drill bits was included. I have always had the impression that all shift kits contained such vital accessories as the correct drill bits, as the kits depended on them. Much of the kit info on how to do things, actually include making new size holes in the valve body. Have you really examined all the content in detail?

I do not imply that your vision is bad, or any other such things, it is just so very easy to overlook small things, I know because I have a tendency to do that myself!

Nope - no drill bits included. I only need to drill a few holes with this kit and in fact I can probably do all the necessary resizing with a .110 bit (that seems to be inside the recommended range for each hole), which is apx. 1/9." I'm new to this so appreciate any insights!

The TFSC is intended for trans. shops who buy large quanities of the kits. By leaving the drill bits out,it is more economical for them to buy. Most other kits do have them. I recomend 3/32" for the 1-2 shift orfice, and 1/8" for the 2-3 shift. If you take the valve body completely apart, take carefull note of the location of all the springs. 3 or 4 look very similar, but can't be interchanged. You also need an inch-pound torque wrench, with needed adapter bits, and a service manual for the correct year trans.
