Hey gang, How important is a fuel pressure regulator with a weber? I picked one up, like others have suggested with a Weber upgrade (DGV type on a stock 225 with HEI ignition). But the regulator packaging came with this disclaimer: "Legal only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway. Not acceptable or intended for street or highway use." Brand is EMPI, model 00-9102-0, designed for up to 5 pounds of pressure. So are fuel pressure regulators necessary, and are they dangerous - or is the manufacturer just trying to avoid liability? Stock pressure is 3.5 - 5 lbs, so you'll be fine....... |

The Redline Weber service manual and other Weber manuals, recommends ~2,5 - 3,0 psi fuel pressure, they even use the words 'critical to float spillage'! Olaf. |

I believe the "for offroad use only" disclaimers are because, they don't bother getting the part approved at whatever gov. agency... The part is probably not much more unsafe than a stock part, but anything that is adjustable, makes people adjust... Which could be bad, as well as good, depending... I don't know if the pressure as such is all that important, but it seems like webers like nice "smooth" flow, not the pulsing from a mechanic pump. I have not had a problem personally, but... |

Think you may be right about the disclaimer having more to do with government approval (or liability) than design... I noticed the very same disclaimer on the Weber air filter assembly made by EMPI. |
