hello, i come to you guys because i know no other forum with more experienced people. i have my 85 dodge b150 ''4x4'' with of coarse the 225 slant 6.it carries a 727 out of a 78 ramcharger with a np203 transfer case. my problem is it has chevy axles.please dont laugh at me .lol. i cant figure out the rear shaft ''rear '' u joint. the front of the rear shaft was a 78 ramcharger fit. i tried a 81 blazer for the rear.no fit ,but it has a odd u joint one half the rollers are shorter n smaller ,the other half is fatter n bigger. pretty lost here and im leaving to go camping at 2am tonite ''please help'' thanks jimbo |

You need to call/find a driveshaft shop and get an "adapter U-joint" between the two types of yokes. That is what I would do. You might get really lucky and a local parts store would be able to get one, but doubtful. A place like Dennys Driveshaft in NJ would have these, and many local custom driveshaft/driveline places would too. You'll need to know what Chevy axle/yoke you have. As a temporary fix, you *should* be able to buy a new Chevy joint (axle end) AND a new Mopar joint (DS end) and put new rollers/caps for the respective legs of the cross onto your old cross/shaft unit. yes. i rebuilt the old one the best i could with new roller bearings(only cost me like 10 buks).would rather a brand new one tho.gunna havta check around.i even tried ebay...no luck thanks jimbo |

Any chance you could post some pictures of your van? 4x4 vans are rare, especially ones powered by a slant six. And you actually found a Ramcharger powered by a slant six? That is rare as well. You might look into having a different driveshaft made up. Have a stock Mopar yoke for the front of the shaft but have a stock Chevy yoke for the rear of the shaft. That way you can buy an easy-to-find u-joint for each end. This won't help you in the short term though. |
