I went up to wildcat today to see if they had any super six manifolds. The guy had a complete set up, intake, exhaust and Rochester carb with throttle bracket, he said $250 for the whole thing I think without the carb, the carb was rebuilt and the intake was painted orange and exhaust black. It looked really nice so it had to of been refurbished recently. Would this be a good deal? Or could I find a better one? I don't need a kickdown linkage since mine is a manual tranny.

If your exhaust manifold is good and you can get it apart from the intake manifold without breaking anything all you really need is the manifold, a carb and throttle cable bracket. You can do much better than $250 for just a manifold.

If you have access to basic hand tools and are a bit creative, you can take a stock one barrel intake manifold and build your own two or four barrel intake. $250 is too steep for me. I say build your own.

How could I build my own? Mine is cast iron and my dad said I probably shouldn't drill into it cause it could ruin the integrity of the manifold. Would it be best to get another single barrel manifold from pick n pull and experiment on that? They're like $40. I guess an upside to that would be that I wouldn't have to make an adapter for the large bore bbd I have. Just tell me what I need to make my own and I will. If I can get away with that I'd be stoaked!

Rochester carburetor is nonstock, not a factory item for any slant-6.

"had to of been"? Um…No. We welcome speakers of all languages on the board here, but you'll have the best results if you will speak English. Please schedule a little less time under the hood and more time over a book; the long-term benefit will be far greater than that of anything you can do with a slant-6 engine.

Thanks for the link Dan. Sorry if my grammar and spelling aren't always correct. I get typing fast sometimes and don't pay attention. Thanks for clearing everything up. The reason I'm using the large bore is because I got it for free, and it was already professionally rebuilt. If it doesn't work out I'll get a small bore. And I knew the Rochester wasn't stock, the guy even told me it wasn't. It did look fairly decent but for all I know they could have just thrown some paint on it and called it good.

Aluminum is a lot easier to work with and all 3 of the 85 dodge trucks sitting in my driveway had aluminum manifolds on them. I took one of them and made a 2 barrel setup for my truck. Total cost for the 1/2" thick mounting plate and having it welded to the manifold was less than $25. My carb pulls front to rear like a V-8. It takes a little time but is much cheaper than what people want for a manifold these days.

Well I think mine is actually aluminum when I looked at it earlier and was taking measurements. Idk what a cast iron intake looks like. But I think the one at pick n pull I've been pulling parts off of is aluminum as well.

Mid to late 80s Dodge trucks and vans with the slant six got a superior design one piece aluminum intake. It was not the older electron-beam welded two piece intake found on 70s cars, but a true one piece, sand cast aluminum manifold.

Magnet sticks to an iron intake, doesnt' stick to an aluminum one.

I unbolted in 90F weather a 2 barrel intake carb off a 1976 Volare yesterday. all bolts/intake w/carb and air cleaner supersix $80

no exhaust manifold, as the bolts 2the exhaust pipe were rusted round and I did not bring a hack saw.
hope 2use soon.

The last time I bought a Super Six setup at a junkyard, I got the entire system from air cleaner to kickdown (except for the 2 1/4 inch exhaust line) for $35. After a rebuild the carb worked great, too. Of course, this was over ten years ago.
